WILDERNESS
SURVIVOR - Loosely based on TV’s ‘Survivor’
Your group is divided into teams competing to plant their flag
on the mountain top and "claim the mountain." The teams "race" to
the base camp and follow wilderness challenges on their route to the
summit. Consensus building and teamwork are a must to cross raging
rivers, canyons, and ice fields on the way. At certain points all
teams meet and must work together. At Tribal Council, tribes compete
head to head but can they survive?
Survivor combines hiking, problem solving, consensus building,
orienteering, low ropes elements and wilderness challenges.

Building Bridges

BUILDING BRIDGES
A PROJECT MANAGEMENT
GAME - Rabun County, split by the raging Chattooga river, for
centuries had a foot bridge uniting two tribes for trade and
commerce. About 50 years ago, the bridge was wiped out in a 100
year flood. No one had the money or the builders to rebuild it.
The USDA has decided to fund a rural development project for the
rebuilding, but there must be maximum participation from both
tribes and also maximum communication.
The bridge must be designed and built on time, within budget,
structurally sound, and distinctly beautiful.
One problem: The
tribes no longer speak the same language. |
This exercise
has both an indoor and outdoor component. Teams must design and
build a prototype using a "made up" language, gain
consensus, build the prototype, and build the bridge over a farm
creek... on time, on budget and on specs!
* Takes 4 hours minimum. (Low Impact)

GAMES
|
|
These games can be done as part
of other programs or individually for fun during breaks or
between meetings. |
Barnyard Bolleyball -
Ultimate Teamwork Volleyball played with partners using
saddle blankets to catch and return balls... but watch out for the
"meadow muffins"!
Cowboy Croquet... played in a meadow the size of a
football field, it is croquet with a few twists. The balls and
wickets are TEXAS size and getting through the course without
hitting a runaway Mustang or a guy in a ten-gallon hat is every
one's challenge. The team that brings all members back to the
ranch first wins.
Buckin Horseshoes - Team horseshoes with unique rules and
obstacles, so everyone can play and anyone
can win.
Indian Marbles...
played like Bocce Ball with big stones.
Meadow Muffin Golf...
a cross between primitive golf and disc (Frisbee) golf. Eighteen
"holes" through one rough. One very big rough!
