About Montara Farm

Larry Becker and Trish Stump, owners of Montara, have been together for 54 years, operating Montara Farm for 27 of those years. Originally began by them as a hobby while still in the Corporate world, Montara became a destination Saddle Club and Equestrian Center for members getting away from the city on weekends. Our 30 horses and miles of mountain view trails and downhome weekend BBQ’s drew a savvy group of young professionals who then brought up their company teams for team development and horsing around.

Drawing from their prior positions as Trainers, Managers and Mentors, Trish and Larry developed workshops and outdoor experiential programs to support Leadership and Team development, pioneering an “All-Inclusive” consulting structure. Companies from the US, Canada, Europe and the Far and Middle East came to Montara to Meet, Eat, Stay, and Play. Many of our innovative programs and activities from 25 years ago are still copied and used by Teambuilding companies today. From Wilderness Survivor, to Farm Olympics, to Mind, Body, Spirit Activities, to Orienteering on horseback, to Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, to Team Cooking Adventures, to Multicultural Summits…we did it all, and with fun and laughter for all.
